“A few months ago I was taken to court by a dishonest tenant. Having initially used a very junior lawyer who let me down, I decided to act as a litigant in person as I was confident that I had done no wrong. In order to put an end to the process, I also took the business decision of agreeing to simply settle out of court for the amount my former tenant was asking for. However, when I did this, the tenant immediately tripled the amount he was asking for. By this time the court process had become complicated with all the documents in a mess and the correct procedure had not been followed.
